2011 Art and Antiques Show

DECO AND DIAMONDS Chaired by Roxane Andrade and Grace Sarber, the 35th anniversary Art & Antiques Show opened with a sparkling Deco and Diamond-themed Opening Night Party . The Show, dedicated to long-time Partner T. Wayne Davis and his wife Kitty, featured art, furniture, period and mid-century pieces from nationally and internationally acclaimed dealers, plus lectures and workshops by iconic designers and event planners, the Children’s Fashion Show, a Sunday Jazz Brunch and more. Proceeds from the 2011 Show contributed to the five-year, $4 million pledge undertaken by The Women’s Board in 2008 to fund the Larry J. Freeman Behavioral Health Center, which provides counseling and support for children dealing with surgery, terminal illnesses, childhood obesity and eating disorders, depression, and pediatric psychiatric illness. 2011 Lectures & Workshops

The 35th Anniversary Art & Antiques Show delivered big with an all-star lineup for the 2011 lecture and workshop series. Industry giant Suzanne Rheinstein, ELLE DECOR A-lister and owner of the celebrated Los Angeles boutique Hollyhock, spoke at 10am Friday (Dec 2). Later that afternoon, John Loring, Design Director Emeritus at Tiffany & Co. discussed the transcendence of that little blue box, and on Saturday (Dec 3) at 10am, style icon David Easton took guests on a Dickensian design journey. 2011 Opening Night

On December 1, 2011, The Women’s Board celebrate the 35th annual Art & Antiques Show benefiting Wolfson Children’s Hospital at a “Deco and Diamonds” Opening Night Party that would make Gatsby swoon. Evoking images of 1930s elegance, sleek lines, stylish modernism and new technologies, the theme wowed guests at every turn.   Patrons of the Opening Night Party were escorted out of their cars by valets to walk the red carpet past an impressive line of antique cars and through doors held open by elegant doormen in top hats and tails.   Inside, a feast for the senses awaited. Winter Wonderland

In December 1989, Jacksonville experienced a rarity in the South—a true winter wonderland. Snow covered the ground, and children went sledding and even made snowmen. It has not snowed much since then in our city, but delightfully, it did again for the 2010 Winter Wonderland Children’s Fashion Show presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and sponsored by Belk−Southern Division. Often called the “heart of the Art & Antiques Show,” the Children’s Fashion Show featured current and former Wolfson Children’s Hospital patients who came from as far away as Deltona, Fla. Twenty-three sponsors escorted children decked out in the latest fashions from Belk as they made their way down the runway.
