The Florida Forum had another great season in 2019-2020.

The 2019 – 2020 season was dynamic and entertaining. Everyone had a great tie at the forum entertained by some exceptional speakers. Please check back often for the announcement of the 2020-2021 season. Be sure and mark your calendars to join us at the Forum in the upcoming season!

Over the past 27 years, The Florida Forum has delivered a world-class speaker series and raised community awareness and funds for Wolfson Children’s Hospital. In keeping with tradition, we enjoyed another enlightening and exciting season featuring Nikki R. Haley, Jon Meacham, and Jerry Rice For The Children.

Nikki R. Haley – 7:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2019

Nikki R. Haley is the former United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations (2017-2019). At the United Nations, Ambassador Haley ensured the American people saw value for their investment, introducing reforms that made the organization more efficient, transparent, and accountable. Ambassador Haley championed human rights traveling the world, visiting people oppressed by their own governments to see firsthand the challenges they face and to work with them directly on life-improving solutions. Prior to becoming the twenty-ninth U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Haley was elected in 2010  as the first female and first minority Governor of  South Carolina. Re-elected in 2014, she served as Governor until confirmed by the U.S. Senate as U.N. Ambassador in January of 2017. Ambassador Haley’s  forthcoming book releasing November 12, With All Due Respect, will share  “the consequential actions, decisions, confrontations,  and  behind-the-scenes negotiations that shaped  national and world events.”

Jon Meacham – 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2020

Presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham is one of America’s most prominent public intellectuals. A contributor to TIME and The New York Times Book Review, Meacham is a highly sought-after commentator,  regularly appearing on CNN and MSNBC. Known as a skilled orator with a depth of knowledge about politics, religion, and current affairs, Meacham brings historical context to the issues and events impacting our daily lives.  Meacham delivered eulogies for both President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush. Meacham’s New York Times bestsellers include Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, Franklin and Winston, American Gospel, and Amerca Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2009. His current New York Times bestseller is The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels. He is currently at work on a biography of James and Dolley Madison.

Jerry Rice – 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2020

Hall of  Fame wide receiver and three-time Super Bowl champion Jerry Rice is widely regarded as the best wide receiver to ever play in the  National Football League, and arguably the greatest player of all time. During his 15-year career with the San Francisco 49ers,  Rice won three Super Bowls  (’88, ’89 and ’94). and one Super  Bowl MVP.  He enjoyed three seasons with the Oakland Raiders, including a Super Bowl appearance and one season with the Seattle Seahawks before retiring in 2005. Rice was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in January 2010, his first year of eligibility. Rice’s meticulous preparation and work ethic during his  20-year  NFL career became legendary. During his career, Rice was selected to the  Pro Bowl a record 13 times, won the NFL Most Valuable Player  Award in 1987  and was  Super  Bowl MVP in Super Bowl XXIII. In 1999, he was ranked No.2 in The Sporting News’ list of 100 Greatest Football Players – the highest-ranked active player and receiver – and in 2010, was voted the No. 1 player in the NFL Network’s The Top 100: NFL’s Greatest Players
