MEET THE NEW SHOW MANAGER
New show manager Charles Hanlon has infused the 2012 Art & Antiques Show with his trademark genre-busting design perspective. A fixture himself at nearly every leading art and antique show in the country, Charles courted a bounty of fresh and eclectic dealers to Jacksonville for the November 30-December 2 Show—part of a progressive effort to modernize and realign the event to cater to an updated and highly-tuned aesthetic.
Charles has been in the antiques and design industry for more than two decades. Specializing in fine 18th & 19th century continental furniture as well as classic and modern pieces, he’s overseen projects in Tampa, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Palm Beach, Miami and internationally. What sets him apart in the business is his passion for classic architecture & history and the way in which he commingles the two with modern design, all into one melting pot of Chic!
Charles is the founder of Tampa-based CR Hanlon Designs, a consultant at his family’s business—Palm Beach-based Mayfair Antiques—and a regular contributor on the syndicated television talk show “Daytime.” He is know for using bold colors, modern art and unique finds, and then blending them with pieces from various genres, such as Japanese, Italian, French and English. “There are no rules,” says Charles. “I like to have several meetings with my clients in order to fully understand their personal and design interests, and then bring my knowledge and experience in order to guide them towards what will ultimately be their design goals.”
Charles has worked with commercial and residential clients, in addition to showing at some of the finest Antiques shows nationally. He prides himself on traveling all over the country in search of unique finds. “My interest and curiosity takes me everywhere from auctions in New York City to estate sales and even garage sale finds” says Charles. “Mixing modern and traditional for a fresh new look takes a lot of work, time and travel, but I enjoy every minute of it!”
